English Language Foundation Program (1 year)


The English Language Foundation Program (1 year) is designed to prepare international students for successful entrance into our undergraduate programs by enhancing their language proficiency to upper level (B1 or higher). This course focuses on developing the students’ English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as building their academic language and communication skills required for successful study at CBS College. The program is provided onsite and lasts a full academic year. At the end of the program, the students will be required to take one of the approved exams by the Council of Ministers listed below.

Program’s Objectives

Throughout the English Language Foundation Program, students will learn how to read, write, listen and speak more effectively in an academic context. They will encounter and produce various spoken and written text types, focusing on the required vocabulary and grammar, and learning how to analyze arguments and work on their critical reading, writing and thinking abilities.

  • Attain proficiency in all language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Develop academic vocabulary and language necessary for Higher Education studies.
  • Enhance communication skills for academic and social interactions.
  • Gain confidence in participating in class discussions and debates and presenting academic topics.
  • Improve critical thinking and analytical skills through reading and writing tasks.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, its students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to integrate and apply acquired language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) cohesively in practical, real-life situations.
  • Apply techniques to comprehend main ideas in texts, effectively summarize content and extract key information from academic materials.
  • Initiate conversations in different contexts, such as social situations work-related discussions or academic settings.
  • Understand a range of text types such as articles, reports, narratives and instructions, and be able to identify different writing styles and purposes.
  • Produce different types of written texts such as emails, letters, reports, reviews, diagrams, graphs and short essays in a coherent and organized manner.
  • Comprehend and use academic and non-academic vocabulary to convey meaning precisely and accurately.
